Saturday was a brilliant day with a leisurely cruise down from Horizon Shores and up the Coomera River to Hope Island Resort Marina. Photos - click here About 10 boats stayed for the day with some new members being welcomed - Coral & Ian Gibbins in their Monterey and Karran, Glynn Moseley & family in their Cruisemaster - both delivered on the same day for Christmas. The Ashley's arrived in their new Cruiser 630 after several months off the water between boats and many took the opportunity to have a closer look at this new model. Also note from one of the photos there is a well restored and equally rare Fleetmaster Convertible (c. 1992) behind the 630 - both with Targa Bar and removable bimini and covers. Just goes to show what goes around, comes around! The sunset that evening was particularly spectacular and preceded a delightful dinner at the Seafood Restaurant at the marina complex. The bakery was particularly handy for breakfast, but the weather for Sunday started overcast and a forecast strengthening of NW winds for Sunday night made a few reconsider plans. Several boats headed off in different directions - a couple back to Horizon Shores, one to Marine Stadium and the remainder up to Caniapa passage. Sunday was to be a trip to Slipping sands but the weather turned many away. Ian & Coral came with the Bennett to Slipping Sands, followed by Ron & Bev, but they both had to go. Not to be left alone, the Bennett's were joined by three new players at varying times. Maureen & Bob Keers in “Shaboom”. Dave & Kathy Patten in “Hooked on Water” and Peter & Simone Huyghebaert in “Site work” Sunday saw a rain downpour for a few minutes but a great night. Jenny & Ian stayed Monday night in Cobby Passage opposite Slipping sands returning home Tuesday. |
