After a week of weather that looked like ruining the first weekend for the club in 2005, the sun came out, the heat rose, and the promise of a great boating weekend was realised. Four of us - Les & Sharyl, Ian & Vivian, Stuart & Judy, and Janette & I, with our new boat Quality Time (550 X-Over with custom made canopy system) met in and moored just to the east of the ferry wharf at Karagarra Island and enjoyed a Friday night BBQ at the picnic ground on Karagarra. Saturday, with even better weather than Friday, saw the arrival of a few more boats, then we headed of to Blakesley's Anchorage for a swim and to decide whether to head over to Peel. As the sun was out, and the wind had eased, and turned to come more from the North, the prospect of Horseshoe Bay was appealing to all. Horseshoe Bay often leads to rough nights with winds from the south, but with a gentle Northerly, all the boats at Blakesley's decided to head over and join those already at Peel. Saturday afternoon was great, with the tide running out, and the shallow water of the bay, most people decided to cool off by socialising with walks in the water between boats. The BBQ on the beach started out great, but as the sun disappeared, the mosquitoes made their appearance, and drove us all back to the boats. Sunday morning was absolutely pristine, as seen by the photo below taken from the eastern end of the beach. There were about 18 Whittleys all scattered around, and with the start of what turned out to be a very hot day, most people again returned to their water wading. This was another ideal Whittley weekend. Thanks to all the people who attended at Peel we have another unforgettable weekend of boating. See more pics. Submitted by: Steve & Janette Hunt
