Trip Report Tangalooma/Karragarra 8th & 9th October 2011

Club Whittley Qld arch nemesis Mother Nature again had the upper hand this month with having to divert the Tangalooma trip to a more protected Karragarra Island.  We had 7 brave souls patiently wait out the morning fury to hit the water running for a rather peaceful Saturday afternoon drive to our overnight anchorage at Karragarra Island.  Kelly and I had a wonderful trip down from Manly with a slight swell running through this part of the Bay arriving at Karragarra mid afternoon, greeting our fellow diehards upon arrival.

Happy hour kicked off as usual by 4pm in the picnic area adjacent the swimming enclosure on the North Western side of the Island.  This is a lovely spot with electric BBQ’s, lighting and undercover picnic tables, with a spectacular view out across the waterway.  Happy Hour continued seamlessly into dinner kicked off by a magnificent sunset over the distant Brisbane landscape. A little later in the evening Mother Nature dropped by with a small light show and a little heavy rain to make us scurry back to our boats and call it quits for the night.  After the short rain period the night was fairly still and calm apart from the odd ferry passing by.

Sunday we woke to a glorious sunny day and had a breakfast gathering in the picnic ground.  Another 2 boats joined us as we slowly we headed off with some venturing south towards Slipping Sands and some of us heading north to Peel Island with the intension of heading home sometime.

Overall another great weekend.
