Although some of us didn't get to Tangalooma there were 10 boats that had a great weekend in Pummicestone Passage with 6 boats (the smaller ones) making the run up to Bulcock Beach Caloundra and back on Saturday. Photos - click here

It was an interesting run and a most enjoyable day. With Monty leading the way Ande, Geodel and Odearne followed and were soon joined by Olivier and Smoke on the Water.

The trip up on the morning high tide required a 5.00am departure (a bit early after a pleasurable B B Q ashore on Friday night- more on that later) but that gave us a full day to enjoy a morning coffee in Caloundra followed by several hours lolling about in the Blue Hole across the passage from Golden Beach.

Artie and Owen even had a mini workshop and solved some of the issues that Artie had with his ducky's outboard. Well done guys.

Although the north easterly picked up in the afternoon the run back on the rising tide went well albeit a little testing for Artie and Lisa (Smoke on the Water) who were towing their ducky. Ande didn't run out of fuel ( I think Keith was just making conversation) and we all made it back to Poverty Point in time to meet up with the bigger boats for the beach BBQ and chin wag.

A couple of the 700's ventured to Tangalooma in the morning, and returned after a brief stay to avoid the building North Easterly.I believe Wayne and Rhonda were the tour guides here and gave Bill and Suzanne the benefit of their experience in that part of the bay taking the run down the inside of Moreton to Tangalooma and back.

Friday night's beach get together was most enjoyable, and it was great to meet some new faces however, the added benefit was fresh crab entree provided by the local Bribie contingent. This went down a treat. A special thanks to Rick for the cook up on the beach. The 14 sandies and 2 muddies were fantastic and I am afraid the precedent may now have been set guys. I am sure we will all be back.

As we have not previously launched at the Spinnaker Sound Marina ramp or tried the passage before, we were most impressed with the good ramp and 'pond' to launch in. A good sandy beach to run back onto while the trailer is parked made it very easy and even retrieval on Sunday in a freshening south east breeze, which chased us all back early, was reasonable.

The adjacent caravan park provided some members with secure parking for $10.00 for 2 nights however, the main car park is well lit and proved fine for us as we had not pre-booked at the caravan park.

Hope the attached photos may give some idea of a great way to celebrate Australia Day!
