This event went very well also despite
the weather threat. Here is a report from Ian Rennie: At
Rivergate we had 5 boats roll-up Friday night a great time was had by all with
B-B-Q on the Marina. Saturday a further 5 boats arrived, the weather put a
number of boats off though it was not as bad as the forecast. We had 3 break
down and did not make it by water, though 3 club members arrived by car. R.Q.Y.S.
had the 1st Rivergate Brisbane River Yacht race with 42 taking part. They all
came back to the $150 million complex for music and drinks and the Whittley Club
were invited to join, this was followed with a B.B.Q. in a Hi-Bay Boat shed out
of the weather. This
Rivergate complex is great for those that want to explore the Brisbane river,
and you can fuel up here with your credit card, it proved to be a great safe
marina, and we should look to do it again for those that pulled out due to the
forecast.
