| Nineteen Whittley Australia Boats rallied in Marine Stadium on the Gold Coast for the 26-27 Feb event, plus one ring-in from the land of Apple Pie. The ring-in courtesy of Northside Marine Gold Coast was a Whittley USA Clearwater 2165 Aft Cabin. Those that travelled down from Horizon Shores early enjoyed a smooth trip as did those that came from the south. Later in the day the large mega-buck cruisers that seem to endlessly come from everywhere on the coast turn the main channels into a washing machine with their wakes, making it quite uncomfortable for the trip from/to the north. The weather was superb - warm and the water inviting with many opting for a swim and the odd spot of fishing on the Saturday. Vic and Chris arrived with their jet ski which proved extremely popular with those that had not ridden on one before. Vic kindly took several of the youngsters for their first ride, much to their great delight - pressure's on now Dad's. Vic also showed us some precision manoeuvrers - not only on the jet ski. Nice swerve Vic - a performance suitable for such a stadium. The backdrop of Surfers Paradise high-rise was barely noticed during the day, but at night took on that fairy-land look as the lights took centre-stage. What better place to view them from but a Whittley in Marine Stadium. A relaxing afternoon socialising and chatting culminated in the beach BBQ and bonfire where the conversations continued late into the evening. |
